The Pasifika Education Plan in Action
Posted on Friday, 16 September 2011, 2:42 p.m.   Print Article

Over the last two weeks we have had Fa’anana Efeso Collins from the Ministry of Education here at Selwyn College to speak with our staff and also a group of central Auckland Principals and Deputies about the Ministry’s Pasifika Education Plan 2009-2012.

One of the key targets in the plan is that by 2012, 75% of the country’s Pasifika students leave school with NCEA Level 2. As a staff, we have been reviewing the NCEA results for 2010 when 73.7% of our Pasifika students achieved this target compared with only 62.2% nationally. We are proud of this and urge all of our Year 12 Pasifika students to make 2011 the year we surpass the national target!
