Print ArticleHow proud we were this week when ‘The Selwyn Singers’ competed at The Big Sing Choir competition
held in the Auckland Town Hall. This magnificent choir of over forty students represented us superbly. In the first item, Lizzie Hollingworth performed beautifully as our soloist singing a choral adaption of the well-known Bach piece, ‘Ave Maria’. The choir backed her with huge polish accompanied by our talented Year 13 Music student, Natasha Karlsen. Lizzie learnt the words and music by getting the music in Braille.
The second and third items were ‘A Slice of Heaven’ by Dave Dobbyn and ‘Africa’ a Toto song arranged by Phillip Lawson. ‘The Selwyn Singers’ can be proud of their excellent efforts and as this photo shows, they also looked amazing in our stylish dress uniform.
Thank you to our HOD Music Sonya Montgomery for her leadership of this talented group.
