Jarrod Waiomio and Jack Barnard.During the last afternoon of Term 2, the whole school gathered in the ASB stadium dressed in their House colours to support the entrants in our first ever Inter-house Talent Quest. Each House had held heats to identify their three best performances for the finals which meant that the standard was excellent First place was awarded to Jarrod Waiomio, Elan Clarkson, Quentin Burrell and Jack Barnard. These students were deserved winners with their fantastic version of The Killer’s song ‘Mr Brightside’. Second place went to Moana Sebenik, Dawn Sacayan, Gary Hofman, Lata Filihia, Jayjay Ioane and Oren Miezles. Georgia Skipper and Adele Lang came third. Congratulations to all of the students who took part. We were particularly delighted that Zac Fargher and Tessa Belich, our Head Students from two years ago, came back to be on the judging panel, along with Eryn Rogers and Darryl Wrightson – also ex students. Darryl is also one of our current tutors. The House placings for the Talent Quest were 1st Pitau, 2nd Mangopare, 3rd Takeketonga and 4th Rautawa. Each House received points which contribute towards the House trophy which will be awarded at the end of the year. Thank you to everyone involved for making this such an exciting, well-planned and successful event. The Arts Council lead by Lane Worrall with the support of teachers Alix Coleman and Sophia Enholmer can be extremely proud of their planning and organisational skills. And thank you also to Duncan Allan, Josie Do Nizza and Lane Worrall – you were great comperes.
