2019 will see the introduction of a rugby development plan designed to alleviate the recent decline in player numbers at Selwyn College.  This pattern of decline is common across Auckland schools, however we are confident our programme will increase engagement in rugby at Selwyn and provide a consistent pathway for our students to continue playing rugby throughout their years here.  In conjunction with Auckland University Rugby Club and the Auckland Rugby Union we will be launching in-curriculum PE sessions for both boys and girls, followed by before schools sessions for interested students run by AURFC/ARU focussing on core skills and game understanding.

Our rugby teams will be coached by qualified Selwyn coaches who will be supported by AURFC ad ARU.  We aim to add an additional junior rugby team to our programme in 2019 and facilitate the involvement of girls in rugby.  Our Senior boys team will be playing 1st XV grade in 2019, coached by the very experienced Scott Couch.

We have the ability to facilitate Rugby sessions outside and inside with access to the Barfoot and Thompson Stadium and we provide all required equipment for trainings.
