Food Technlogy

Aim of the Course

Food Technology will appeal to students who have a taste for food and design. This course offers a combination of practical cookery skills and new product development. Food Technology provides students with meaningful contexts to explore as they learn to select, prepare and present food outcomes to meet a brief. Students use problem-solving, critical analysis and reflection to make decisions throughout the design process. Students draw from learning in the three main areas of Technology: Technological Knowledge, Technological Practice and the Nature of Technology whilst working on briefs that are embedded in the curriculum’s values. Students develop a range of practical skills, and problem based learning ensures students can consider their own values and examine those of others.  Food and nutrition education enables students to make informed decisions about food that contributes to their well-being and that of other people.
