HELLO AND WELCOME.
My name is  Patrick  Carrigan I am the Director of the Totara Learning Centre at Selwyn College. We have an open door policy and welcome visitors at any time to meet our friendly staff and talented students. Currently we have a broad range of students with very different disabilities, including intellectual, physical, and medical. Most of our students come with some form of funding which allows us to encourage students to develop to their full potential.

We encouage our students to attend mainstream classes whenever possible to access the curriculum and to promote healthy relationships with their peers. Our students' contribution and  participation throughout the school in various clubs and committees is varied and widespread.  Some students prefer to participate in smaller specialised group classes at the Unit, but usually it is a combination of both mainstream and Unit classes. These type of decisions are made at transition meetings that include the families and any other significant people. If you have any suggestions or questions or would like to know more about how we do things, please don't hesitate to contact me on (09) 5219610 ext 661 or email me on carriganp@selwyn.school.nz
