Students are supported in their learning by an extensive pastoral network which includes mentor teachers, Heads of House and senior leaders. A kaimanaaki supports the Heads of House in working with Maori and Pasifika students.

With the establishment of the Selwyn House system last year, the 2011 inter-house competition was enthusiastically and closely contested. It began with a superb House Sports Day in Term 1, followed by a Volleyball competition to end the term; then a wonderful Talent Quest in Term 2; a football competition in Term 3; and points awarded for attendance, co-curricular involvement and academic success throughout the year. The new trophy was presented to the winning house at the final full-school assembly amidst loud acclamation!
