Welcome to the Science Club area of the Selwyn College Website.

The Selwyn College Science Club was founded in late 2007 by two visionary students, His Most Praeter-Scienciness, Grander-Wisdomic-Arche-Mage-Super-Proto-Primo-Pan-Meta-Chancellor, His Superbly Hyper-Amazingness, Chief-Eu-Senator-Great-Myxo-Vizier-Epi-President Declan Thompson (Head Boy), 'The Wise One', 'He who rides a bed of reeds through the deep pools of the mind', Chairman of the Selwyn College Science 'Council' and Consul of the Selwyn College Science Club and Henry Northcott, Consul of the Selwyn College Science Club, who strove to create a warm, caring organisation for students who are interested in the sciences. Since then, it has blossomed and flowered into the wonderful society that the Club is today. Club members have been involved in many science-related activities and events including the "Darwin Guides" event in partnership with the Auckland War Memorial Museum and the Brain Bee competition.

The Club meets every Thursday lunchtime in the enriching environs of S2; its patron is Ms Jom. Past patrons include Ms Bhej. At these meetings, club business is discussed and lunch is taken. Numbers at meetings do vary from week to week (often due to the weather conditions!) however there is a core group of devoted Science Club members. Membership is open to any Selwyn College student or staff member and all are welcome. We aim to foster new members and encourage them to contribute what they have to offer to any discussions.

The Science Club organises a number of events throughout the year and these are usually open to anyone who wants to participate, not just members of the Club. Mention the Science Club to anyone who has been involved with it and a smile immediately comes to their face.

Come to Science Club!
