Edwards + Johann ); artists and collaborators, are working together in this form of interdisciplinary practice since 2007. Their intellectual
endeavours are based on play and process and their individual and collective histories of visual arts practice is marked by highlights such as
Victoria’s doctoral work in 2006 NightWatch...moving image sequences in installation 2005-2006, Ina’s award winning work
Stuttering Structures #2 in the 2006 CoCA/Anthony Harper Contemporary Art Award. Recently the duo won the Margaret Stoddart Award
with their LED diptych Looking at – The view.
Ina Johann, internationally renowned German born artist uses a range of media from drawing to digital stills, photography and video to create
multi- dimensional installations. Johann lectured for a number of years both in New Zealand and Germany and is currently a full time practitioner
living in Christchurch/New Zealand. Her work in the last 5 years has involved collaboration with artists, writers/poets and musicians. Johann has
been exploring a form of navigation and mapping in the terrain of survey, observation, and fragmentation. Her work reflects upon emptiness,
memory loss, coding and de-coding.
Dr.Victoria Edwards, New Zealand born artist exhibited extensively nationally and internationally since the 1970s.
Edwards was awarded her Doctorate in 2006. She has been involved in art education since the 1970s and is currently a full time practitioner
living in Christchurch. She works primarily in new media including drawing and photography. She has engaged in collaborative practice for a
number of years. Edwards work explores role play and social conventions in relation to individual and collective identity.
